This watch can take a lot of abuse and still looks good,
Over the past year, I wore out four watches. My first one was an atomic watch. Hard to let that feature go, but the band was too cheaply made. The next watch was a military issue. The winding knob fell off one day. In the morning it was there. At the end of the day, it was gone. Don’t know what happened to it.
I ended up getting the G-Shock. I’ve worn it daily for the last eight months or so. The band is still good. It’s not starting to come apart. You can’t even tell which eyelet I put the tongue in everyday. There’s no wear at all. It’s gone through barbed wire, rocks and sand. It’s bumped around on humvees, helicopters and airplanes. The battery is still good and the metal still shines. There are minimal scratches.
Negative: It’s a trick getting used to which button does which function. It’s also a pain to change the analog time when you move across time zones. The hand only advances, there’s no counter-clockwise movement for the hands. But that’s really it.
I think this is the best watch I’ve ever had.
One of the folks that I work with also has this watch and he’s the kind of guy who will spend $1000 on a watch without flinching.
It’s a tough watch. It’s attractive. It’s not so big that it looks more like a belt buckle on your wrist. It doesn’t give you altitude and it doesn’t pay your taxes. It does, however, keep time with wonderful consistency. The blue/green light won’t ruin your night vision.
If you are going through Amazon’s catalogue like I was looking at the $400 watches and drooling. Take a break, save some cash and enjoy this watch.

Tough, rugged and good-looking!,
This is the first combination analog/chronograph/digital watch I have ever had. I own MANY watches and they are all ladies watches.
I know that Casio offers the Casio Baby-G Shock for women, but I wanted a watch that looked “serious,” yet still fashionable – not candy-colored and/or too shiny. And certainly one that did not look like a toy watch!
Now, if you really want to know what the watch features, please look at the four (4) pictures I uploaded (see Amazon’s picture and my pictures are right next to theirs). The pictures do more justice by way of looks and descriptions of what each of the three subdials plus day/date/time window are used for.
This watch is both an analog watch and it tells the digital time. It is ultra-accurate…you literally can see the minute hand move every 20 seconds! One word of caution: it’s a great watch if you are near-sighted, but otherwise the digital readout is smaller than other G-Shocks I’ve seen. Also, the luminous coating is only towards the very end of the hour and minute hands, so don’t count on being able to read the time/see the hands in the dark (you will need to push the button to illuminate the dial and look at the digital readout).
The sharp triangular silver hourly markers with the red mini 1/25th a minute indices add a nice touch to the black dial. The hour hand is red, the minute hand is silver. Very cool look! It literally makes the watch look more expensive than the $130 MSRP for which it is sold. This is the kind of watch that looks as though it is about $500 to $750!
Like many other Casio G-Shocks and Baby-G’s, this one has the dial guards, but the guards on these are NOT covered with plastic. They are stainless steel to match the case. This means that this watch will be extra TOUGH and will protect the dial from getting scratched. The SS guards also add a classy look! Both my husband and daughter wear a Casio Pathfinder and a Baby-G, respectively. We often do many activities that require getting dirt and sand all over us. That is when I usually have to take off my ladies watch and leave it in the car and ask them what time it is while we prance around the sand and swim in the ocean (meanwhile I am watch-less). NO MORE! My G-Shock is 200M Water Resistance with a tough rubber/resin wristband that will be easy to clean just like their Casio Watches!
Once you set your local time and the analog hands and get familiar with the functions, you are good to go! I won’t bore you with the details because you can get a lot of info just by looking at the pictures I uploaded. Also, please read the captions (just click on the picture to enlarge). It’s a watch with virtually every time zone (27 time zones/29 cities). It has a stopwatch with split time, alarm with snooze, an hourly beep/chime signal (that you can turn off, of course). It has a timer (no need to use the one on the stove), and because of the analog, you can use the digital time to look at other time zones while still knowing your local time (great for day business trips in another time zone; if you need to Skype someone in another part of the country or world, or even while you’re on vacation). Finally, it has a perpetual calendar to the year 2099.
To borrow slightly from a deodorant slogan, this watch is strong enough for a man, but is good looking enough for a woman! Hope this review helps!
